Ai Weiwei: Snake Bag
In this piece by Ai Weiwei he plays with an unusual medium to make a rather thought provoking statement on a 2008 earthquake that killed thousands of Chinese students. Weiwei uses hundreds of bag pack to make a snake. I found that the backpacks was a symbol of all the backpacks found after the ruble. He also forms this into a snake to represent the corruption in Chinese society. I find this particularly intriguing because of Weiwei's fearlessness in his medium choices and more importantly his fearless approach in making a statement. Furthermore, he always choose topics and finds art in current, political and socially disturbing events.
